Did you know that God loves you! He created you and longs to have a relationship with you but we are separated from Him due to our own sinful nature. There is nothing you can do that would keep God from loving you. You are His creation! Although I gave my life to the Lord when I was 8, there have been times in my life that I have sinned, walked away from and even ignored God. Even in those moments God still loved me and He loves me still today. There are moments when I think I am unlovable and that God will not forgive something that I’ve done — even He loves me and forgives me. I am convinced that He loves me no matter what the circumstance. My life is not without sin but I know that God loves me. And because of His love for me I rest in the confidence that He will never leave me nor forsake me.
We all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). We are human and susceptible to sin each and every day. No one is exempt — we all sin and because of our sinful nature we are prevented our relationship with Him. (Sin is anything that separates us from God.) For the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23a) and as a result of this death we would experience an eternity in hell. (Matthew 25:41; Revelation 20:10)
But the GREAT news for us is that God sent His Son, Jesus, to save us from our sins. (John 3:16-18) God gave us The Way to be reunited with Him and that is through Jesus Christ (John 17:3).
Jesus was born to die for our sins. Jesus died on a cross to take away our punishment for the sins we have committed (Romans 5:8, Galatians 4:4, 1 John 4:10). Jesus lived a sinless life yet He became sin for us (2 Corinthians 5:21). He died in our place. He took all our sins upon Himself to remove our burden of sin and allow us to enter into a relationship with Him. Think about this selfless love for you…while He was nailed to the cross He thought of you. He knew you and all the sin you would ever commit and willingly chose to die for you. How great is His love for you!
All we must do to enter into a relationship with Him is make the decision to trust in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. This means we must repent of our sins and believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God who came to earth in human form to die for our sins so that we might have eternal life.
Putting our trust in Jesus requires us to have faith. We must have faith that even though we cannot see Jesus face to face he exists. (John 20:29, Hebrews 11:1) Our salvation is by faith alone, not by anything we can do (works). (John 6:28-29)
Those who place their trust in Jesus become children of God and heirs to heaven and are promised eternal life. (Romans 8:16-17, Galatians 3:29) Once we have accepted Jesus as our Savior He continues to work in our hearts and minds and He continues to conform us into the image of Christ. (1 John 3:2)
If you have never made a decision to give your life to Christ you can do that today. The Word says, “that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.” Romans 10:9-10
If you are ready to accept Jesus into your heart you can make this confession of faith by praying this simple prayer.
Father, I am a sinner and need your forgiveness. Please forgive me of all my sins. Today I repent and turn from sin. I believe that Jesus died and rose again and saved me for my sins. Jesus, I ask you to come into my heart, right now, and be my Lord and Savior. Fill me with the Holy Spirit. Thank You, Lord, for hearing my prayer and coming into my heart and saving me according to Your Word. I love You Lord, and ask for you to continue to transform my heart and life all the days of my life.
In Jesus name Amen.
